Big Bay names itself the stone skipping Capital of Canada, since all of its beaches are made up of flat pieces of Shale. This area has an over-abundance of stones and you can notice them being put to good use as stone fences between the many farm fields throughout Kemble. Big Bay is located on the Georgian Bay shore between
Owen Sound and
Wiarton in the
Township of Georgian Bluffs and as you drive between the two towns you will be in awe of the beautiful scenery. If you have time and are up for a rugged hike, you will want to go the the
Big Bay Scenic Lookout. You will have a spectacular view over Georgian Bay and down Kemble Mountain.
